Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion
Microdermabrasion is one of the treatments we use for skin rejuvenation. This facial procedure is an effective deep skin polishing technique that removes unwanted dead skin cells,
leaving your skin feeling softer, smother, and fresher looking.
It is helpful for:

–Reducing fine lines and wrinkles
–Fading sunspots and age spots
–Minimizing acne scars and stretch marks
Advanced Skin Care uses a Crystal–Free diamond tip microdermabrasion machine.  It comes within the base cell
layers of the skin to build younger and more functional skin cells.
There is no down time associated with this procedure.

Before & After

What is Diamond-tip Microdermabrasion

What is Diamond-tip Microdermabrasion?
Diamond-tip Microdermabrasion (DTM) is a new cosmetic procedure that works on the epidermis (also known as the outer layer of the skin) and the dermis (deep layer of the skin). DTM uses a diamond tip wand to exfoliate dead skin. The exfoliated particles are taken away by vacuuming through the diamond-tipped wand.

The DTM procedure involves a series of exfoliation to help you achieve the desired results within a short time. Compared to crystal microdermabrasion, DTM is a little bit mild on your skin. Besides, this type of skin treatment does not leave stray gritty crystals on your body. This means your skin will stay free of harmful crystals after the DTM treatment.

The aforementioned reasons explain why most people prefer DTM over other microdermabrasion techniques used today in beauty parlors. Let’s look at different ways DTM treatment works and what you should expect after undergoing this modern cosmetic procedure.

What is the DTM Treatment Like?
DTM treatment is simple, yet effective in removing your outer layer of the skin. At the start of the process, your skin is cleansed using an appropriate cleanser that works best for specific types of skins.

Once your skin dries after cleansing the microdermabrasion process is applied to get rid of dead cells from the treated area of your body. This step is followed by skin toning before a hydrating mask is applied. Finally, the treatment serum and moisturizer complete the whole DTM cosmetic procedure, leaving your skin looking radiant and healthy. The whole procedure lasts 60 minutes or less from start to finish.

In general, diamond-tip microdermabrasion helps you remove acne scars, reduce wrinkles, clear up blackheads, reduce sun damage, even out your skin tone and reduce the size of pores on your skin. Furthermore, this procedure boosts collagen production to improve your skin appearance.

What is the DTM Experience Like?
Diamond-tip microdermabrasion treatment brings great changes to your skin. To begin with, the thickness of your epidermis increases dramatically due to the rejuvenation of new cells. In simple terms, this type of skin treatment helps in the rapid increase of cells which are usually larger and healthier.

During the DTM treatment, the cells in your lower layers of the outer skin (epidermis) are knitted tighter in what is referred to as “basket weave” configuration. Such changes in your skin minimize cases of haphazard arrangement of the cells in the epidermis.

But one thing remains certain during DTM treatment; the barrier function of your outer skin layer may be disrupted for a period of 24 to 48 hours. During this disruption, you will experience unusual dryness of your skin.

But as the cells reproduce the fibroblasts in the collagen fibers enlarge rapidly to become thicker and more tightly packed, making your skin firm. At the same time, the elastin fibers increase in number and get oriented vertically rather than horizontally to give the dermal layer its suppleness.

Does it Hurt?
DTM does not hurt at all, although some people are skeptical about this latest cosmetic procedure for no reason. This type of skin treatment is entirely safe from start to finish. Most significantly, DTM is a gentle procedure that does not have downtime.

What you need to do to stay comfortable throughout is to protect your skin using moisturizer or sunblock for two days after treatment. During this timeframe, you may experience sloughing/peeling and mild redness.

All these are minor issues that are part of the healing process. That explains why it is possible to go back to work immediately after treatment. No wonder most clients prefer going for microdermabrasion treatment during their lunch break because there’s no downtime.

What are the Benefits of Diamond-tip Microdermabrasion?

The diamond microdermabrasion technique has come to replace the micro-crystal dermabrasion system with the laser-cut diamond-tip wand. This means areas close to your mouth and eyes can easily be abraded accurately with the help of diamond abrasion.

With this treatment, there’s no danger of stray crystals damaging or getting into your nose, eyes or mouth. Other than that, this modern microdermabrasion technique comes in handy with wands of different sizes and coarseness. These two features help in taking care of different skin types as well as depths of resurfacing.

Most professionals prefer working with natural diamond tips for simple reasons; they are easy to control, they don’t irritate your skin and are more precise when it comes to treatment. With that in mind, you should know which skin conditions need DTM the most.

As an ideal treatment to promote healthy skin, DTM is suitable for:

  • Preparing your skin for mesotherapy
  • Helping the skin to regenerate
  • Treating oily or blemished skin
  • Prevention of premature wrinkles
  • Treatment of acne scarring
  • Controlling uneven pigmentation
  • Removal of fine lines
  • Taking care of clogged pores
  • Correcting uneven skin texture

These are the most common skin conditions that need diamond-tip microdermabrasion treatment. However, the DTM treatment is tailored towards all areas of your body. The most common microdermabrasion treatment zones are the neck, face, back, and decolletage.

How Often will I Need the Treatment?
Depending on the condition of your skin, it is recommended that you repeat diamond-tip microdermabrasion at least four to six weeks following the last treatment. This routine is helpful because it will help you achieve consistent results.

However, you are advised to take DTM treatments after shorter intervals if your skin has complications. In this case, you can go for treatment every two weeks until your skin’s appearance improves.

Depending on the treatment zones on your skin, you may notice a great improvement in texture and feel after DTM treatment. Skin conditions such as acne and stretch marks will disappear as soon as you start the treatment. Fine lines and age spots will also be reduced, leaving your skin smoother, lighter, softer and looking younger than before.

In Summary
Diamond-tip microdermabrasion is an ultramodern and effective method for exfoliating your skin. The technique, as the name suggests, uses a diamond-tipped wand to treat the most affected zones such as your face and neck. The wand removes dead skin gently, leaving your skin smooth, softer and looking younger than it was before the treatment. To achieve better results, it is recommended that you go for a series of DTM treatments at specific intervals.
